Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the provider that supplies that result function. Buffalo Residents Directory does not save a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most hosted services, the site records routine log details such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of request. We use aggregated information to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and, if used, advertising measurement.
How Data Is Used
The limited data supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and page improvements. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services
Links may lead to Erie County, New York State, library, archive, or third-party search services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply once you use them. The same is true of sponsored results furnished by another provider.
Who May Receive Data
Hosting and support providers process technical logs for the service. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or personal profiles maintained by Buffalo Residents Directory.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has sent information, and we will remove it.
Your Privacy Choices
You may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information a service keeps, depending on where you live. The New York research for this project did not establish a comprehensive general deletion statute applicable here. Because we retain little, a request ordinarily involves checking the contact mailbox and server logs, then removing what applies. Use the Contact page. New York, Erie County, and Buffalo records are controlled by their custodians, so requests about those records must go to the office that holds them.
Policy Changes
Any revision will appear here. Continued use after publication of a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
